The beautiful and talented Hannah Yakobi is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of FAJO Magazine, Canada's leading digital fashion magazine, and has a passion for the environment and our health. We will post our interview with the journalist-extraordinaire soon! Stay tuned!
How did you first learn about the existence of harmful ingredients in the beauty and personal care products?
I've always been very careful with the products I use, especially when it comes to make-up. Poor make-up choices can lead to skin irritation, faster skin aging and even certain diseases. My knowledge of this was heightened when I worked at the Canadian Cancer Society in late 2000s, and learnt the importance of reading and checking all ingredients before buying something.
What, in your opinion, is the most compelling fact about the beauty industry?
Its continued growth and the fact that it is needed in all parts of the world. The options are there, it's just a matter of making smart choices.
What prompted you to get involved with the Clean Beauty Awards?
I strongly believe in using, whenever possible, products that are paraben-free and that mostly contain natural ingredients. It's a life-long mission for my whole family.
What inspired you to create FAJO Magazine?
I've been a journalist and communications advisor for almost 13 years, so this was a natural next step!
What mantra/motto keeps you motivated?
Three things: 1) Hard work pays off. 2) Patience is virtue. 3) Teamwork is everything.
What is one piece of advice you'd give to your younger self?
Everything will happen at the best time possible. It always does.
