The lovely Jacqueline Carlisle is the Editor In Chief of Think Magazine; she is an amazing women..
How did you first learn about potential harmful ingredients lurking in the beauty and personal care products?
I had worked for both Christian Dior and MAC cosmetics, when I decided to freelance, it propelled me to experiment with my own line of lipsticks because I wanted more colours for yellow based skin. It was in production where I became quite interested in the chemical components of cosmetics.
What is one fact about the beauty industry that you always seem to share with others?
I tell people to read the labels for harmful chemicals such as Sodium Laurel Sulphate it's in all shampoos and it's designed to make you dependent on conditioners because it strips the hair of all natural oils.
What made you get involved with the Clean Beauty Awards?
The Clean Beauty Awards is in keeping with my own philosophy of living a cleaner life. I don't think it's possible to live a completely clean lifestyle, but it is possible to decrease the amount of harsh chemicals that go into our bodies.
What inspired you to create Think Magazine?
The magazine I worked for folded and I was left jobless. A number of people kept telling me to start my own magazine, at first I wasn't interested but I gave it some thought and decided to do it. Think magazine is a magazine I wanted to see on the market from my point of view.
What awesome projects/initiatives are you up to this year?
This year Think magazine is launching ThinkTV, and preparing to release some of the archived issues in print. I also want to empower and sustain other women, so I am hoping to do more inspirational talks.
What is your personal mantra/motto that keeps you inspired or motivated?
From an early age design has always been a part of my life, I am inspired by great architects and innovators. I don't know if I have a personal mantra, it probably changes from year to year, but I do tell myself to realise my dreams and goals.
What is one advice you would give to your younger self?
Ha, I would probably tell my younger self to stop wasting time.
