Rosemina (we love her name!) is the Beauty Editor of ANOKHI Magazine, and she will be one of the judges lathering clean products this year!
How did you first learn about potential harmful ingredients lurking in the beauty and personal care products?
This is something I have become more knowledgeable about as of late. A few states in the US are banning products that contain plastic exfoliators -- and you'd be surprised at how many companies use this. Learning about the harmful environmental effects of these products made me realize just how important it is to be more weary of the products we use, not just for the health of our skin, but for the health of the environment as well.
What is one fact about the beauty industry that you always seem to share with others?
Lately, it's been all about natural, organic beauty products that are free of synthetic preservatives and do wonders for your skin.
What made you get involved with the Clean Beauty Awards?
Love that there's a place dedicated to showing Canadians the very best in clean products. It's a great way to promote companies that are doing great things, and it shows others that great products don't always have to come from well-known names.
What inspired you to be a Beauty Editor of a magazine?
Becoming a Beauty Editor meshed a few things that i love - magazine publishing, editorial work and the beauty industry. I get to work with awesome people, try the very best products and shine light on some of the amazing things beauty companies are doing.
What is your personal mantra/motto that keeps you inspired or motivated?
A fairly well-known quote from Eleanor Roosevelt says it all -- "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams."
What is one advice you would give to your younger self?
Your dreams are not too big, and neither is your hair. Embrace the weird, find your whimsy, and don't let anyone tell you you should be anyone other than exactly who you are.
