As part of the 11th annual Clean Beauty Awards, 185 brands from over 24 countries submitted 386 products across 20 categories, evaluated over a three-month period by 117 clean beauty advocates, industry experts, and makeup enthusiasts.
The finalists and winner below represent the highest-performing clean lipsticks of 2026 — formulas that delivered vibrant color, consistent wear, and comfortable finish when tested head-to-head.
How This Category Was Assessed
Because lipstick is highly visible and performance-sensitive, products were assessed comparatively within the category using structured pairwise ranking. Judges evaluated formulas in real-life conditions — during meals, conversations, and extended wear — to determine which lipsticks truly held up.
Judges focused on:

"As someone who has completed two full rounds of 365 Days of Lipsticks and reviewed over 700 lipsticks, I approach every lipstick with a critical eye and a lot of love.
For me, the most important things are color payoff, application, comfort, and lasting power, and this lipstick performed beautifully across all four.
The first thing that stood out was the packaging. The magnetic closure feels classy and luxurious, and the bullet design makes application smooth and effortless. The formula glides on easily without feeling patchy, greasy, sticky, or heavy, which immediately sets it apart from many clean beauty lipsticks.
The color payoff is excellent. It delivers rich, even pigment and does a great job covering uneven lips without needing multiple layers.
The shade Sunkissed Peach is especially flattering and wearable. It adds warmth and brightness without washing me out, which can be tricky with peach-toned shades.

"The packaging of this lip gloss is very easy to use, and it smells lovely with a soft, pleasant scent!
The Cashmere shade is a natural pink that looks very wearable and flattering on the lips. Even though the color appears darker in the tube, it applies much lighter, giving a sheer and natural finish.
Since I have uneven lips, I prefer pairing this gloss with a lip liner, as the coverage is sheer and doesn’t fully even out the lip tone on its own. Once applied, it gives a beautiful shine that feels just right, not overly glossy and not drying either. The texture feels smooth, hydrating, and very comfortable on the lips without feeling sticky, heavy, or uncomfortable.
I really appreciate that this is a clean gloss made with nourishing ingredients, making it a great option for everyday use. Like most glosses, it does require reapplication, but that’s something I expect from a hydrating formula.

"Before I begin, I want to share that I’ve completed two rounds of 365 Days of Lipsticks and have reviewed over 700 lipsticks on my page.
Lipsticks are truly my thing, and I tend to be very particular when it comes to formula, performance, and wear. I usually judge lipsticks based on four main factors: color payoff, application, comfort, and lasting power.
Starting with the packaging, it’s pretty and easy to use, and the bullet glides smoothly on the lips. The lipstick has a classic, old-school lipstick scent, the kind my mom used to love, which feels nostalgic rather than overwhelming.
The color payoff really impressed me. It’s rich, pigmented, and gives good coverage, even without a lip liner; it nicely covers my uneven lips, which is impressive.
The formula feels creamy, hydrating, and comfortable. You can feel that you’re wearing lipstick, as it has a slightly heavier, traditional lipstick feel, but it never feels uncomfortable or drying.
In terms of wear time, it lasts around three to four hours; if you’re not eating, it can last longer, which is quite decent for a cream lipstick.
