Jan Benham is the CEO of Jan Benham Cosmetics, a natural beauty brand founded on holistic health. She has been a practicing aromatherapist and holistic health practitioner for over 40 years and a teacher of clinical aromatherapy for over 35 years. For over 20 years, she has also been teaching classes on how to create natural cosmetics.
The overall ranking system of the Clean Beauty Awards is a systematic scoring method based on a product’s efficacy and performance based on skin type and skin needs. This means that personal preference and brand values are not always reflected in the final results. We took this opportunity to ask Jan to choose her top three favourite products not just based on product performance but also on her connection to the brand ethos, values and packaging.
Favourite Face Cream #1: DrLOUIE Revitalizing All-in-One Essence
A combination of toner, serum, and moisturizer, this nutrient-rich Essence gets absorbed quickly, leaving your skin with a healthy glow and a silky finish.
Jan couldn’t get over at how it was a great multi-purpose product:
"The reason why I liked [this] was because it was more of a serum, and I prefer that than a thick cream. So when I applied it, it was [easily] absorbed into the skin. It had none of the nasties in the ingredients. In fact, it had a lot of good products. It was excellent on the skin and did the work that it was meant to do."
Favourite Face Cream #2: Calli Essentials Triple Rose Cream
Soothing, calming face cream with 20 organic roses in every jar, the Triple Rose Cream is excellent for all skin types especially sensitive or those with rosacea.
As an aromatherapist, Jan loved the essential oils of this cream:
"What I liked about this is that it contains essential oils. So I enjoyed the smell, the aroma of the [roses] and I used quite a bit of it!"
Favourite Face Cream #3: Opulence Cream by Ayelet Naturals
This face cream from Ayelet Naturals was such a moisturizing product that Jan used on her body too:
"I would use this product on my face to help stop the moisture from escaping. I tended to use this also on my body, on my chest, on my arms, on my legs."
Jan’s commitment to natural beauty products are also linked to her love with eco-friendly packaging. On her Instagram, she shares her reviews on different products, as well as tutorials on how to create looks with the makeup from her own cosmetics brand.
